The Mill at Sonning isn’t just a theatre. It’s a place where history meets creativity, where laughter and applause fills the air, and where unforgettable memories are made.
Our independent theatre has thrived since 1982 thanks to the passion of our audiences, artists, and local community.
As we receive no public funding or subsidy, every donation, big or small, helps us keep the magic alive.
Restore and protect our 18th-century water mill
preserving a much-loved piece of local heritage.
Produce outstanding live theatre
from comedies and musicals to brand new plays.
Nurture young and emerging talent
giving future stars their first professional opportunities.
Support the arts in our community
keeping live performance vibrant for everyone to enjoy.
£10 could buy a new script for one of our actors in rehearsal.
£20 could go towards restoring our original 18th-century waterwheel, keeping a vital part of our history turning.
£30 could replace a much-loved, much-used kettle in the actors’ green room (they really do get through them!).
£50 could help commission beautiful handmade costumes for an upcoming production.
£100 could support new lighting or sound equipment to keep our productions looking and sounding their best.
£250 could help fund a bursary place for a young performer or technician starting out in the industry.
£500 could contribute to the refurbishment of our auditorium seating, ensuring audiences stay comfortable show after show.
Any amount you choose goes directly towards preserving The Mill, supporting our productions, and nurturing the future of regional theatre.
Whether it’s a one-off gift or a regular donation, every contribution helps us keep the lights shining, the stories unfolding, and this cherished theatre alive for future generations.
We intend to keep everyone regularly informed of how we spend our donations throughout our annual seasons.
Thank you for being part of The Mill’s story.
